East Coast Survivor Tournament 2026 Recap

The tournament featured eight teams:

• Triangle Floorball Club — NC
• Carolina Cyclones — NC
• Colorado Floorball — CO
• North Texas Floorball Association — TX
• NYC Floorball Club — NY
• RVA Floorball Club — VA
• St. Paul Groveland Growlers — MN
• USA Men’s U-19

The NTFA roster truly represented what our organization is all about. A lot of moving parts. Different generations. Different backgrounds. Different levels of experience. But when it all comes together, something special happens.

It featured:

🏆 Five-time National Champions: Matt Nunez, Dan Torretta & Nick VanPatten
🏆 Two-time National Champions: Ethan VanPatten, Landon VanPatten, Ryan Folic & Adam Takacs
🏆 One-time National Champion & former NTFA GM: Jon Keener
🏑 NTFA tournament team newcomers: Matt Goebel, Dylan Collins & Case Connor

Under the direction of General Manager Nick VanPatten, NTFA came out firing in round-robin play:

8–1 vs. USA Men’s U-19
4–1 vs. NYC Floorball Club
6–1 vs. Carolina Cyclones
6–0 vs. St. Paul Groveland Growlers

That dominant run sent NTFA into the semifinals, where they faced USA Men’s U-19 once again and battled to a 4–2 victory. 

The U-19 squad has come a long way in recent years. Their young players bring an incredible passion for the game, along with the kind of energy and stamina that forces even the most experienced teams to bring their absolute best.  Harrison Tan, the U-19 goaltender and tournament MVP, faced a relentless barrage of NTFA shots throughout the game and continued to make save after save. He will continue to be a force to be reckoned with!

NTFA faced the host club, Triangle Floorball Club, in a hard-fought championship battle.

Two strong teams. Every goal at a premium. Relentless defense. Every possession mattered. And both goaltenders were exceptional, keeping their teams in the fight.

Then, with only minutes remaining, NTFA veteran #6 Dan Torretta found the back of the net to put NTFA ahead.  And if you know Torretta, you know that clutch moments like this are exactly where he seems to thrive!

Triangle pushed hard in the final minutes, pulling their goalie and adding a sixth field player in an attempt to equalize. With just 22 seconds left, #2 Adam Takacs blocked a shot and quickly collected the rebound, and sent the ball bouncing all the way into the empty Triangle net ending the game 2-0.
