2025 Golden Gate Cup Tournament Recap

NTFA took a dynamic team of 12 players to compete at the 15th Annual Golden Gate Cup in San Jose, CA on December 6th and 7th. This year’s tournament featured 10 teams, including two Canadian teams (51st State Floorball & North Shore), as well as teams from Colorado, Chicago Dogs, Austin Bluebonnets, Men’s U19, and three California teams: Menlo Park, SoCal, and Sonoma County Floorball.

Saturday was incredibly busy, consisting of 12 straight hours of games—our first at 8:40 a.m. and our last at 8:40 p.m. Despite the long schedule and growing exhaustion, our team stayed strong and finished the day with an impressive 4–0 record.

On Sunday, we continued our momentum:

• Quarterfinal: defeated Men’s U19, 6–2

• Semifinal: defeated SoCal FBC, 7–3

We ultimately faced the Chicago Dogs in the Final, where we put up a strong fight but fell just short with a 3–2 loss.

Despite the tough ending, the weekend was filled with fun and team spirit. There was tremendous camaraderie, plenty of jokes, and lots of laughter shared among the players. Even the tournament DJ approached us to compliment how fantastic our cheering section was!

⭐ Special congratulations to our very own Ethan VanPatten, who secured the Best Goalie Award with an outstanding 85% save percentage.

We also had three NTFA players place in the Top 10 Scoring Leaders:

• Landon VanPatten: 7 goals, 1 assist

• Isak Angerstig: 6 goals, 2 assists

• Ryan Folic: 4 goals, 4 assists

A huge thank-you to the tournament committee, volunteers, and referees who worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful event. We look forward to preparing for next year—determined, motivated, and ready to compete for the one tournament we have yet to claim.
