NTFA was excited to take a team to the Annual Golden Gate Cup in San Jose, CA which took place on January 25th and 26th. This year Golden Gate hosted a total of 13 teams that included some fresh new teams (Sonoma County Floorball) and teams that have not competed in a while (Utah). The tournament also yielded two teams from outside the US... New Zealand (The Flying Kiwi's) and Canada (North Shore Floorball). They also incorporated three NAFL players and elite level Europeans into the tournament adding them to the returning champions team...San Francisco. The competition was fierce and a long 14 hours of round robin play but who doesn't love a full day of competitive Floorball!!
Despite the tough competition NTFA was extremely proud to finish with a 2nd Place win! We took a team that consisted of 7 seasoned Veterans and welcomed 4 first time NTFA tournament team players. It was a great opportunity to grow our Tournament team and for those newer players to play with some of our more seasoned players to learn, grow, gain experience, and form chemistry and long-lasting friendships. It helps everyone learn what it takes to be a top 4 team in the US and further supports NTFA's Mission to help grow and strengthen our club!
Couple of special mentions go to Ethan VanPatten for being given the Award for Best Goalie with a .881 SV%
NTFA had 3 Players in the Top 10 Scoring Leaders... Landon VanPatten was #4 behind the 3 European players. Nick VanPatten was #7 & Erik Faeltstrom was #8. Way to go guys!!
Well done Team!! Next Up Texas Open in March 2025!!
