NTFA Summer League - Week #4 (Jun 28, 2021)

NTFA Summer 2021 League Game #4 is Monday, June 28, 2021.

Captains for this week are Mark Yonai - Blue (214-957-2394) and Dan Torretta - Red (908-319-5004).  Rosters are posted.  Dan's team (RED) will arrive early to set up boards.  EVERYBODY SHOULD BRING A RED AND A BLUE JERSEY IN CASE OF ROSTER ADJUSTMENTS DUE TO DROP-INS OR NO-SHOWS.

Schedule:

7:00 - 7:30 pm:

Arrive, setup, drop-in team assignment, warmup.  Red team is assigned rink setup, Blue team responsible for rink cleanup.

7:30 - 7:50:  Training Topic - Free Hits

7:50 - 8:00:  Warmup, game prep, final rosters submitted

8:00 - 9:15:  Game (3 x 20 min)

9:15:  Cleanup (Blue team puts away boards/nets)

Week #4 Training Topic:

Free Hits.  Includes offensive strategies and defensive responsibilities.  We weren't able to cover this topic in detail the first week.  There is a lot of confusion regarding responsibilities in the various zones.  EVERYBODY can really use this review so be ready to participate at 7:30.

Last week's contest was a story of two games in one.  Red came to play and dominated for the first two periods, outshooting Blue 33-18.  At the end of 40 minutes, Red led on the scoreboard 4-2. Blue finally hit its offensive stride in the 3rd period and outscored their opponent 7-2.  Final score 9-6, Blue over Red.  Matthew Yonai found his scoring touch with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists).  Seven players had 2 points.   Alex Gross was busy in net for Blue with 45 saves on 51 shots against.  Devon Howard took the loss with 17 saves on 26 shots against.  Remember, since we change teams each week, the team name listed for a player on the stats page reflects the current team assignment and not the team where points were earned. 

If you haven't registered for summer league, no problem.  Drop-ins are encouraged.  Pay only $10.  We had four drop-ins last week.
